    Would you like to celebrate Christmas in Spain? We tell you the spanish Christmas traditions in this post. The spanish Christmas time is from December 24th to January 6th. It’s a time full of family gatherings. Christmas is a religious festival in Spain. The cities are beautifully decorated with Christmas lights from the first week of December. Also in the homes there are Christmas trees and miniature scenes called Belenes. This nativity scenes depicts life in the village where Jesus was born.

    Christmas Eve is celebrated on December 24th in Spain. It’s the most important family gathering of the year. The family dinner is celebrated in a family home to taste the traditional plates and christmas sweets. The most religious attend the Misa del Gallo. It’s a mass service offered at midnight to commemorate the birth of Jesus. Finally, Santa Claus bring gifts for children to open on Christmas Day.

    The Christmas Day is celebrated on December 25th. It’s a special day in Spain. The families visit local churches to attend the mass in the morning to commemorate the birth of Jesus. Then they have a grand lunch on afternoon. Finally, the children recibe a small gift of Santa Claus.

    The Holy Innocent’s Day is celebrated on December 28th. It’s the equivalent of April Fool’s Day. It’s a day to watch our for tricks that pranksters are looking to play on people. Also the people play practical jokes on one another.

    New Year’s Eve is celebrated on December 31th in Spain. It’s a big celebration for partying with your friends. You can go to street parties, hotels, pubs, disco or clubs to celebrate this special night. If you want have good luck for the New Year you should wear red underclothes and practice the ritual of the lucky grapes. You have to eat 12 grapes at midnight, one on each stroke of the clock. Finally, you can celebrate the new year with your friends toasting with champagne and dancing.

    The New Year Day is the first day of the year. It’s a family day. The people have lunch with their family to celebrate the New Year. We propose you to visit the New Year’s Concerts of Spain. It’s a magical experience.

    The Roscon de Reyes Day is celebrated on January 5th. It’s a special day for children. You can visit the Reyes Magos procession in the evening. Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar with their camels arrive in town on a decorated float, throwing sweets to the crowds of children that line the streets. Also you can taste the Roscón de Reyes sweet bun. It’s a ring-shape cake with a bean and small figurine inside. If you find the bean you have to pay the cake. The Reyes Magos visit your home this night to bring presents for children.

    The Feast of the Epiphany or Día de los Reyes Magos is celebrated on January 6th. It’s the most important day of the year for spanish children. They wake up to find the left gifts that Reyes Magos bring in their house.
