Marine Reserve of Cabo de Palos and Islas Hormigas
The marine reserve of Cabo de Palos and Islas Hormigas is an amazing natural underwater landscape of Cartagena. It has 1898 hectares. It’s the best place for practise scuba diving in the Mediterranean sea. It’s the dream of diving lovers because it has a lot of treasures as some shipwrecks, wonderful landscapes and a great variety of biological.
The excelent temperature of the area makes it posible to practise scuba diving throughout the year. The average water temperatura is 14ºC in winter and 25ºC in summer.

It was declared Specially Protected Area of Mediterranean Importance for save the flora and fauna of the area in 1995. Also was denominated Special Protection Area for Birds. The marine reserve of Islas Hormigas can only be visited by biologists with special license.
