The Palmeral of Elche is a landscape of palm grove located in the city center since over a thousand years ago. It’s the largest palm grove in Europe with up to 200,000 palm trees. The origins of the Palm Grove date back to the 10th century. It was declared World Heritage Site by Unesco in the year 2,000. This spectacular landscape is composed by a set of palm trees that surrounded orchards. The palm trees were planted in rows in the field margins to protect the orchards from sun and wind.
